The Oak Grove Police Department K-9 Unit is currently staffed by Officer Anderson and K-9 Merlin. K-9 Merlin was born on May 27th, 2016 in Germany. K-9 Merlin and Officer Anderson started their new career as a certified K-9 team on February 5th, 2018. K-9 Merlin is trained and frequently used in narcotics detection and searches. Officer Anderson and K-9 Merlin train biweekly with other K-9 Units from around the KC Metro area to keep their skills sharp. They also assist several outside agencies in Jackson, Lafayette and Johnson County. They are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Officer Anderson and K-9 Merlin conduct random school searches and attend community activities, such as National Night Out Against Crime and the Community Police Academy. You can follow K-9 Merlin on Facebook!
